"Some fool is playing my song, the Evil Melody."

This is Star Ocean's ultimate enemy (though some argue the final boss with his limiter off is tougher). Her name is Ethereal Queen (sometimes translated as Iselia-Queen).

Total victory in Star Ocean isn't possible until this monster is defeated.

She is a recurring character in the series, often appearing at the end of bonus dungeons. Trust me, you'll need all the experience levels you can get prior to fighting this enemy! In Star Ocean 2, she appears whenever someone plays the Evil Melody at Level 10 using the Silver Trumpet (won in the Cave of Trials).

Be warned, this chick has 3.3 million HP (4.95 in Galaxy, 6.6 million in Universe). I know it's nothing compared to Yiazmat (50 million HP takes hours to deplete) from FF12, but that's a lot of health to cut through in Star Ocean! Even with invincibility, fights with her in Earth mode takes about 20-30 minutes.

I do recommend fighting her. She drops the uber awesome Angel Armbands for the rest of your party (which she's wearing in this pic), or on rare instances, another Levantine Sword for your swordsmen! Either way, your party will receive 4 million EXP points, ensuring they level up at least twice! And if you use an Extension card to double that, your party's levels will really jump!

As long as you have the Silver Trumpet, you can fight her as many times as you like!

This picture was pulled off the Star Ocean Wiki page, featuring this enemy in all her glory, looking much better than her sprite from the PS and PSP versions. The picture was modeled in Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. I didn't like the "wings" they gave her, so I gave her the wings you see on her sprite.

She has been confirmed to appear in the upcoming game, The Last Hope. Better sharpen your swords!
