Magic Armor Link

Description

My half of an art trade with :iconddr-master-michiru:. She drew a super cute version of my Opal mermaid (it was her birthstone), and I decided to draw her favorite video game hero in exchange. I was inspired by a Link picture she uploaded earlier, where she claimed to “die of fangirliness.” However, I wanted Link to wear something different than his green tunic he’s worn since his conception. And I thought Link looked like a true hero when he equipped the almighty Magic Armor.

This armor sort of exists in Ocarina, in the form of the Nayru’s Love spell. It surrounds Link in a crystal that protects him from all damage, but he still flinches (knocked around). It’s vital against Iron Knuckle, when all you have is the pocket knife you started with. It takes 12 MP to use it (which is half your magic if you didn’t get the magic upgrade), and lasts about a minute. Be careful, you can’t use any other magical item (Lens of Truth, magic arrows, etc.) while it’s active.

It got better in Wind Waker, where it is obtained by a trade sequence. It surrounds Link in a purple aura akin to the aura the Dragon Ball characters have. Link is invincible with this active, but it quickly saps his magic away, forcing you to constantly renew it with magic jars and other MP restorative items. It works great when combined with the Elixir Soup item. The Magic Cape/Cane of Byrna from Link to the Past works the same way.

It makes a glorious return in Twilight Princess, where it is obtained by spending a lot of money. First you must donate 1000 Rupees to repair a bridge, then another 2000 to buy out a shop in the market that sells things at outrageous prices. Under some circumstances, the amount you have to donate might be less. The armor is for sale at the new Malo Mart, for a whopping 598 Rupees. Only the rich need wear this mighty armor. It protects Link from damage, but it quickly drains his money away (about three per second). Taking damage makes him lose 10-20 Rupees. When your money runs out, the armor loses its sheen and becomes very heavy. It no longer provides protection in this state, so it’s better to remove the armor before you decide to fight again.

Despite this armor’s nasty drawbacks , I always thought Link looked so cool wearing Magic Armor. I’m glad it’s actual armor rather than an energy aura. It makes Link look like a real knight of Hyrule!

I took several photos across Hyrule finding perfect places to photograph Link. I tested this in his normal green tunic, and then put on the armor. My wallet was loaded with 1000 Rupees when I started, so I wasn’t worried about running dry. I wanted Link to have his sword drawn, though I couldn’t get him in a fighting stance (camera moves behind him). I got several close ups, which would help match the detail of this armor.

If Bill Gates wears this armor, he'd be the only person to survive a roundhouse kick from Chuck Norris. However, he'd go into poverty.

This was my first art trade. I hope you like it.

Cool pic, nice attention to detail. :)

Your little joke at the end of your author's comments-- "if bill gates wears this armor, he'd be the only person to survive a roundhouse kick from Chuck Norris. However, he'd go into poverty."
This made me laugh harder than I have all month. XD Thanks! *still laughing*
