Description
The first of the Birthstone Mermaids, Garnet, makes her entrance for the first time in years, and she dances. She is the Party Girl after all, and she loves to dance, especially on New Year's Day, which is also her birthday. I wanted her to dance to show her personality.
All the Birthstone Mermaids are going to be doing something relating to their nickname, which was often based on the holiday that occurs in their respective months.
Garnets actually are available in any color, but the dark red seems to be the most common, with blue garnets being very rare. It ranks 6.5 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness. It is the official birthstone of January.
