Motherhood Fairy II

My friend, , is about to embark on that wonderful journey we call motherhood. I made this fairy in honor of her and her little princess. This fairy is modeled after her, and clutched in her arms is her newborn daughter. Congratulations, !

I used one of her gorgeous photos to help me capture her features (though capturing her beauty is beyond my reach), such as her hair, eyes, and lips. The outfit has a more personal origin. As many of you know, I have a sister who has two children. Every Christmas following the birth of either of her children, I have bought her a motherhood statue, to honor my nephew and niece when they were born. One of those statues provided the poses that Google did not offer, a mother and child making eye contact. I wanted this motherhood fairy to be similar to the one I made previously. Her dress was originally blue, but I decided to change the colors to make them more feminine. Thank you sis for letting me use the statue!

As for the wings, I wanted to give her butterfly wings, and the one that came to mind were the brightly colored monarch butterflies (or I guess in her case, a matriarch butterfly). I always found them beautiful, and I need to make some fairies with those types of wings.

And of course, who wouldn’t wrap up their newborn daughter in bright pink blankets while calling her “your little princess?”

Update: she's home with baby! She was born May 14 at 7 pounds 7 ounces, and measures 19 3/4 inches tall. Sounds healthy to me!
